Welcome to The Centre for Systems Biology at Edinburgh
The Centre for Systems Biology at Edinburgh is a Centre for Integrative Systems Biology (CISB) funded by BBSRC
and EPSRC in 2007. Our experimental and theoretical
researchers are co-located in the new CH Waddington building (image below by John Pelan, May 2009) on the Kings Buildings science campus.
CSBE's research goal is to develop broadly-applicable methods and large-scale infrastructure for
modelling the temporal aspects of biological phenomena, informed by three pilot biological projects. A key
emphasis will be to link diverse data and models tightly, through multiple iterations, ranging from
static ab initio models to highly-constrained, kinetic models that cross multiple scales. This
continuum of modelling approaches reflects the realistic evolution of a systems-level approach to
any and all biological problems. CSBE researchers are listed here, with links to their research pages.
